Travelling in China is certainly a trip for the bravest travelers amongst us. While it is thought of as one of the best Low Cost Holidays, you need to be confident in your travelling abilities.

Vacationing Themes have put together an article which lists some excellent tips for surviving in China, and coming home with good instead of bad memories.

It might seem a little strange, but the first tip mentioned, is that you should never expect a toilet to be completely clean. This might sound strange for many westerners, but it is certainly true in China. Also, don’t be surprised if you have to use a squat toilet most of the time.

vacationthemes_utube_pngFood is always a little tricky in China. Because many of the menus are not in English, if there is even a menu, it can be difficult placing an order, and even harder knowing what you will be served.

Vacationing Themes is able to provide a handy menu that you can carry around with you, which can be used when ordering, and will ensure that you don’t order any nasty surprises by mistake, like a meal of cat or dog for instance.

You will need to get used to the eating habits in China, as people are typically very noisy eaters, and can often be quite messy as well. Smoking at a table is also quite common, which might be a bit difficult for some of us. If you really get stuck with ordering, often the easiest way is just to point to a dish that somebody else has ordered. At least this way you will know exactly what you are getting!
